Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of Shortlist’s Instagram DM concierge, result pages, and Shortlist accounts. When you send the concierge a reel, post, image, or message, its reply includes shopping links. The service is operated by SignatureLook, Inc. (dba Shortlist / wearshortlist) (“Shortlist,” “we,” “us”). Please read them before using the service.

The account sections cover your account, result links, and saved finds. See our Privacy Policy for what we collect, how long we keep it, and how to delete it.

Acceptance of terms

By messaging @wearshortlist on Instagram or otherwise using the service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please don’t use the service.

The service

Shortlist provides informational shopping recommendations. When you share content with us, we identify the garments in it and reply with links to places you may be able to buy those items or similar ones. Shortlist is an independent service and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the brands or retailers we link to. All brand names and trademarks belong to their respective owners.

Best-effort recommendations

Our recommendations are provided on a best-effort basis. We identify items and surface shopping links automatically and with human review where practical, but we do not guarantee that a link points to the exact item you shared, that an item is in stock, that pricing or availability shown by a retailer is accurate, or that any purchase outcome will result. Any purchase you make is a transaction between you and the retailer, subject to that retailer’s own terms.

Affiliate-link disclosure

Some of the links we send are affiliate links, which means Shortlist may earn a commission if you click through and make a purchase, at no additional cost to you. Affiliate links never change which items we recommend. We send what best matches your request.

Your account

Your Shortlist account belongs to the Instagram accounts connected to it, and you can sign in through any of them. You create the account, and sign in on each new device, by tapping the confirmation that @wearshortlist sends in your Instagram conversation, or by sending it the number that the website shows. After you send the number, @wearshortlist may also ask you to tap a confirmation. Anyone who can use an Instagram account connected to your Shortlist account can sign in to it, so keep each of those Instagram accounts secure. If you lose access to all of them, you cannot sign in to Shortlist. Contact privacy@wearshortlist.com for help.

While you are signed in, you can connect another Instagram account by sending the number that the website shows to @wearshortlist from that Instagram account. You can disconnect an Instagram account later, unless it is the last one connected to your Shortlist account. We then stop saving its new results, and finds it already saved stay in your account. Signing in with it later connects it again and adds the results sent to it while it was disconnected.

If an Instagram account you connect has its own Shortlist account, the two accounts can join. A join needs approval from both accounts. The Instagram account you are adding taps Confirm on the join message from @wearshortlist, and you tap Join accounts on the website. The other account’s saved finds, Instagram accounts, and signed-in browsers then move to your account, and the other account closes. You cannot undo a join or restore the closed account. The Privacy Policy describes what moves and the messages we send.

Result links

Your result link shows the products we found, the image you sent, and your Instagram username. Anyone with the link can see them and leave match feedback, including someone you forward it to. Share the link only with people you want to have that access. A result link does not give access to your account or your other saved finds.

A result link does not expire. It works until you unsend your message, remove the saved find for that result, or delete your account. We remove the image you sent from the page sooner if you remove the original image from that saved find. We also remove it if you DM “delete my data” to @wearshortlist.

You can create a share link from a result page or a saved find. A share link shows the products only. It does not show the image you sent, your Instagram username, or your feedback.

Saved finds

We import the past results of each Instagram account when you create your account with it or connect it. Each time you sign in through it, we also add any results sent to it since the last import. We save each new result automatically. We do not promise that retailer pages, prices, media, or individual results stay available.

You can remove only the original image from a saved find and keep its products, or remove the whole saved find. Removing a saved find that came from your own message also turns off its result link. You have 30 seconds to undo either removal. Deleting data from Shortlist does not delete your Instagram conversations. The Privacy Policy lists every way to delete your data.

Acceptable use

• Use the service only for lawful, personal, non-commercial shopping requests.
• Don’t send content you don’t have the right to share, or content that is unlawful, abusive, or infringing.
• Don’t attempt to disrupt, overload, reverse-engineer, or misuse the service or the platforms it runs on.

Disclaimer of warranties

The service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that recommendations will meet your expectations.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Shortlist will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss arising from your use of the service or from any purchase you make through a link we provide. The service is free to use, and our aggregate liability for any claim relating to it is limited accordingly.

Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms as the service evolves. When we publish updated Terms, we change the “Last updated” date at the top of this page, and the updated Terms take effect on that date. Continued use after that date means you accept the updated Terms.
